A step-by-step guide to replacing engine seal parts (gaskets) on VAZ 2110 and 2111 vehicles. A step-by-step guide to replacing engine seal parts (gaskets) on VAZ 2110 and 2111 vehicles.

Remember to replace the gasket every time you remove the head, as it is disposable and cannot be reused.

Have you noticed a coolant or engine oil leak at the junction of the cylinder block with the block head? Leaks can occur in two cases: due to warpage of the block head (occurs after overheating) and due to a defective gasket. In the second case, you will need to remove directly the head itself and replace its gasket. To do this, follow these guidelines. We repaired the VAZ 2111.

Replacing the engine gasket:

1. Disconnect from the "?" battery wiring.

2. Install the piston of the first cylinder at compression top dead center, also see here.

3. Drain the coolant (antifreeze, antifreeze).

4. If the replacement occurs after a trip (in the case when the car model belongs to those in which fuel is injected), you will need to reduce the pressure of the fuel system.

5. Remove the muffler front pipe from the exhaust manifold.

6. Disconnect the thermostat.

7. Then unscrew the nut that secures the bracket to the water pump (supply) pipe and loosen the nut that secures it to the exhaust manifold. 8. Place the bracket aside.

9. Disconnect the block with the oil level sensor wiring, which is located in the engine crankcase.

10. If you change the gasket on a 2111 engine, loosen (or completely unscrew) the retaining nuts that support the bracket.

11. Unscrew the bolt fastening the support bracket, disconnect the white block with wiring from the crankshaft position indicator, while pressing the plastic latch.

12. Next, you need to remove the camshaft drive belt from the toothed pulley. You also need to remove it from the idler roller and the water pump toothed pulley. Take it to one side and remove the tensioner pulley at the same time.

13. The toothed pulley of the camshaft should be secured against turning. Unscrew the pulley mounting bolt and, together with the washer, remove it. To do this, insert a screwdriver into the hole and rest on the stud.

14. The next step is to remove the pulley from the camshaft using two screwdrivers. While doing this, be careful not to damage the camshaft oil seal.

15. Finally, remove the head cover and replace the gasket.
These are all the steps to follow when replacing the gasket in the engine.
