In October 2014, the Italian carmaker Fiat introduced the world to the compact crossover Fiat 500X, which, in terms of design, is able to compete with Mini cars.

In the following years, the company developed a line of models, the finishing touch of which was the release of a special sports modification - the Fiat 500X Sport. It is about this car that we propose to talk about in the framework of the review, tk. the car really deserves a closer look.

External appearance

The standard Fiat 500X had a bright, modern and instantly recognizable appearance, in which the notes of the iconic Fiat 500 hatchback were clearly visible. With the release of the Sport modification, the compact crossover became even better, more dynamic and expressive.

The "muzzle" of the car flaunts the branded head optics with LED filling, a pair of round LED running lights, a narrow strip of false radiator grille and a new front bumper with a large air intake section and effectively beaten foglights.

The taut and knocked profile showcases Sport badges over the front fenders, a sloping roofline, circular wheel arches, eye-catching exterior mirrors with thin legs and stylish 19-inch wheels with a special design.

The fodder of the crossover represents the original lampshades of the parking lights, a compact luggage compartment lid and a laconic rear bumper, the design of which, by the way, has also been changed in comparison with the “civilian” version of the model. The sports diffuser and double-barrel exhaust system deserve special attention.

The outer dimensions of the car remained the same:

The standard version of the car rises above the road by 179 mm, while the “Sport” version has been deliberately lowered by 13 mm to achieve better handling.

Especially for the Fiat 500X Sport version, the manufacturer has prepared an exclusive body color - a seductive red, which favorably emphasizes all the body elements of the crossover.

The interior of the new Fiat 500X Sport, on the one hand, is made in a laconic style, and on the other, it is not devoid of originality. The quality of finishing materials, assembly and ergonomics can give odds to even more expensive competitors, of which there are not so many.

In front of the driver is a dashboard with three wells, as well as a stylish three-spoke sports multifunction steering wheel with a slightly truncated lower rim. Of the features of the "Sport" version, it is worth highlighting the trim of the visor of the instrument panel in Alcantara, which, together with the red stitching, is also presented on the steering wheel.

In the central part of the dashboard, the manufacturer installed a 7-inch touch screen for the media information system, and right below it - three round buttons, a compact unit of air duct deflectors and an air conditioning control unit, which is represented by three multifunctional rounds.

Opposite the front passenger there is a glove compartment, on the lid of which the inscription "500" flaunts.

For the front riders, the manufacturer has prepared comfortable seats with leather trim, excellent lateral support, a lot of adjustments, round head restraints and stamping "500".

There is a low tunnel between the seats, where there is an electronic brake activation button, a pair of cup holders and a gearshift selector.

The rear sofa allows you to accommodate three adult riders - however, free space, as they say, end-to-end. Nevertheless, the car is capable of claiming the title of one of the most spacious in the class.

The trunk volume is just over 300 liters, and with the backs of the rear sofa folded down, it can be increased almost threefold. Under the raised floor, the manufacturer has provided a stowaway and a set of the minimum necessary tools.

One of two engines can be installed under the hood of the Fiat 500X Sport:

1. 1-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 120 hp. with. and 190 Nm of torque. Such a motor is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 10.9 seconds. and a limit mark of 188 km / h. The declared fuel consumption in the combined driving mode is 6 l / 100 km.
2. 1.3-liter diesel of the MultiJet line, reproducing 95 "mares" and 200 Nm of ultimate torque. His partner is also a 6-speed manual transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 13.5 seconds. and reach a top speed of 172 km / h.

The combined fuel consumption is at around 4.6 liters for every 100 kilometers.

The crossover is equipped with a proprietary all-wheel drive system that has several operating modes. The suspension in the car is completely independent - classic MacPherson struts are used front and rear.

The steering is supplemented by an electric booster with variable characteristics, and the braking system is represented by disc brakes "in a circle".

The Fiat 500X Sport is a bright and modern compact crossover that will appeal to active people with a strong personality. In addition to the practical interior, the car can offer high-torque and economical engines, a rich set of standard and optional equipment, as well as excellent handling.

Of course, a rather high price tag spoils the picture a little, but if you remember that the model's competitors include Mini cars, then the cost does not look so transcendental.
