There is not much time left before the Geneva Motor Show, and now the smallest hatchback from the French manufacturer Peugeot, whose weight is only 840 kg, is being actively discussed.
An even lighter model than the 107 hatchback was released by the French company Peugeot. This model will be presented at once in 3 body modifications - a hatchback for three and five doors and a "top" (with a convertible cloth top). The premiere will take place in Geneva on March 4th.
If the predecessor Peugeot 108 had a mass of 875 kg, then the announced model became 35 kg lighter. The dimensions of the novelty do not differ much from the 107 model and fit into the A-class frames. The width of the Peugeot 108 sitikar is 1.62m and the length is 3.47m. This model will complete the renovation of compact ABC-class cars.
One of the modifications of the Peugeot 108 will be a model with a convertible fabric top. The dimensions of the opening element will be as follows: 76 cm in length, 80 cm in width. The opening takes place only up to the fastening point of the fifth door.
The new French hatchback has already been dubbed the smallest Peugeot. According to the manufacturer itself, these cars will be sold with gasoline three-cylinder engines.
- Basic models will be equipped with 69-horsepower units. The more expensive modifications of the Peugeot 108 will include a 1.2-liter engine with 83 horsepower.
- The cars will have a five-speed gearbox, only in some versions it will be “mechanics”, and in others it will be “automatic”.
- The manufacturer is not going to install diesel engines in the Peugeot 108, due to the high cost of such units that meet European standards.
- The smallest hatchback will have 6 airbags as standard. The model is also equipped with a stabilization and speed limiting system and electric power steering.
- For some money, it will be possible to add an automatic light control system and a rear-view camera.
Until the Geneva Motor Show, the exterior and interior of the new Peugeot is kept secret. However, there is information that the models will have an instrument model attached to the steering column. An additional LCD screen and a dial gauge will be located on the dashboard. In addition, the sitikar will be equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system.
The manufacturer reports that these models will appear on sale only in mid-summer 2014. All modifications of the Peugeot 108 models, of any configuration, will be assembled in the Czech Republic, at an enterprise owned by the French automaker. The same enterprise also produced 107 models.
The exact price has not yet been announced, but it will be from 440,000 rubles for the minimum configuration. I want to remind you that the old model 107 costs from 402 to 502 thousand rubles.
