In 2015, the Korean carmaker SsangYong first demonstrated a new model of the Tivoli subcompact crossover, which took the company 3.5 years and more than $ 300 million to develop. The car owes its appearance to the concept cars SsangYong XIV-Air and SsangYong XIV-Adventure, most of the ideas of which were implemented in the new SsangYong Tivoli.

The crossover owes its name to a small Italian town located 24 kilometers from Rome and famous for its history and architectural sights.

Among the main competitors of the Korean are such models as Fiat 500X, Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008, as well as Ford EcoSport and Renault Kaptur. This means that SsangYong Tivoli 2017 will have to try very hard to make potential buyers choose it, and not more eminent and well-established competitors. If you want to know what's in the arsenal of new items - read our SsangYong Tivoli review.

Appearance of SsangYong Tivoli 2017

Even a cursory glance is enough to note the pleasant and modern appearance of the crossover, in the creation of which the manufacturer took into account all the modern trends in automotive fashion.

Frontal part the body received a narrow false radiator grille, large headlights with LED running lights, as well as an impressive front bumper with a pair of quadrangular fog lights and a wide air intake.

Profile Sang Yong Tivoli has well-balanced proportions, which are complemented by stylish stamping on the side doors, a slightly upturned window line to the stern and a laconic crossover body kit.

Car feed pleases the eye with an unusual tailgate, a small spoiler and a neat bumper, and its highlight are spectacular side lights (optionally with LED filling).

The external dimensions of the monitored crossover are:

  • Length - 1.195 m;
  • Width - 1,795 m;
  • Height - 1.59 m;
  • Distance between rear and front axle - 2.6 m.

The car pleases with a good ground clearance of 167 mm, which is more than enough for an average city dweller who is forced to storm crossings and speed bumps, as well as make forays out of town from time to time.

The total weight of the car, depending on the version, varies between 1270-1390 kg.

The Koreans offer 8 body paint options to customers: Space Black, Grand White, Dandy Blue, Jazz Brown, Silent Silver, Flaming Red, Techno Gray and Galaxy Green.

Salon SsangYong Tivoli 2017

Interior design of the salon decorated in a modern style, but devoid of bright and instantly conspicuous details inherent in most Koreans. The manufacturer himself emphasizes that the SsangYong Tivoli has the highest quality interior trim in the class and, admittedly, they are not far from the truth - the interior looks and feels much more expensive than it really is.

The driver is offered a stylish three-spoke multifunction steering wheel slightly truncated at the bottom, as well as a sports instrument panel, represented by a pair of deep wells and a trip computer screen located between them. The laconic and attractive central dashboard offers a 7-inch multimedia center screen and an original microclimate control unit, supplemented by a small monochrome display (in budget variations, a two-din radio tape recorder takes the place of an LCD display, and an air conditioner for climate control).

Front seats delight with tangible lateral support, a sufficient number of adjustments and an attractive "pattern".

Rear passengers a comfortable sofa is provided, on which, if necessary, can accommodate three people, but for long distances it is preferable to be alone here.

Trunk volume in the standard position is 423 liters, but if necessary, the car owner can lower the backrests of the rear sofa, while receiving as much as 1115 liters of loading space. True, with the backs of the second row lowered, you cannot count on a flat loading area.

In general, the interior of the SsangYong Tivoli 2017 leaves a positive impression not only thanks to well-thought-out ergonomics and a sufficient amount of free space, but also to solid and well-combined finishing materials.

SsangYong Tivoli 2017 - specifications

The line of power units that can be equipped with SsangYong Tivoli is represented by one gasoline engine and one diesel engine, of which only the first option is available on the Russian market:

  1. 1.6-liter petrol, equipped with a distributed power system, four cylinders and a 16-valve timing, capable of squeezing a maximum of 128 hp. and 160 Nm of torque. With it, the acceleration from 0 to 100 takes just over 10 seconds, and the top speed is 175-181 km / h for the version with automatic and manual transmission. In the combined mode, fuel consumption is 6.6-7.5 liters for every 100 km of the distance traveled, which is a good indicator for cars of this class.
  2. 1.6-liter diesel with a turbocharging system, 16-valve timing and direct injection, developing 115 "horses", as well as a maximum torque of 300 Nm, available already at 1500 rpm. With such a power unit, the dynamic characteristics of the SsangYong Tivoli are represented by a maximum speed of 175 km / h, as well as an average fuel consumption of 5.5 l / 100 km.

Customers are offered a choice of two "boxes" - automatic and mechanical, 6-speed each. Somewhat upsetting is the fact that our car is offered exclusively in a front-wheel drive configuration, which imposes a number of restrictions when operating the car outside the city.

The new Tivoli was built on a front-wheel drive "bogie", which involves the use of a transverse motor and a 70% monocoque body made of heavy-duty steel. An independent suspension with MacPherson struts is installed on the front axle, and an independent suspension is installed on the rear axle, represented by a torsion beam (multi-link on all-wheel drive variations).

Steering equipped with an electric booster, and disc brakes on all wheels (with front ventilation) are responsible for braking, as well as modern electronic assistants designed to ensure a more comfortable and safe driving. In addition, the driver can choose one of 3 steering sensitivity modes: "Normal", "Comfort" and "Sport".

Security of the new Tivoli 2017

The manufacturer proudly claims that SsangYong Tivoli has an extremely high level of strength and safety, which is facilitated by the active use of high-strength steels, 40% of which is low-alloy steel. What's more, 10 key areas of the body have been further reinforced to withstand severe shock loads.

The list of security systems is presented:

  • Anti-lock braking system;
  • System of exchange rate stability and slip prevention;
  • Rear parking sensors;
  • Electronic brake force distribution system;
  • Disc brakes on both axles;
  • LED DRL;
  • Immobilizer;
  • 3-point belts and frontal airbags;
  • ISOFIX fasteners;
  • Front and rear fog lights;
  • Electric power steering and other options.

In addition, the body is equipped with special deformation zones, the purpose of which is to reduce the force of impact in the event of a frontal or side collision.

If we draw a parallel with competitors, then the car has everything it needs to interest a potential buyer and demonstrate a high level of sales next year.
