The third generation of the compact hatchback Toyota Yaris celebrated its European premiere in early autumn 2011 during the Frankfurt Motor Show, although the model was shown in its home market back in December 2010.
In 2014, the car underwent a planned restyling, during which it received major changes in its appearance, an improved interior, an expanded list of equipment and a number of technical innovations.
However, the real revolution took place in 2017, when the Japanese presented another model update, which received over 900 innovations. The novelty has acquired a stylish and more aggressive appearance, improved interior design, upgraded engines and previously unavailable options, most of which are found only on higher class cars.
In the same 2017, in order to finally "knock out" brand fans, the company releases a special "heated" version of the Toyota Yaris GRMN, developed with the participation of specialists from Gazoo Racing.
In comparison with the "civilian" modification, the novelty received black and red accents on the body, large wheels of a special design, a number of innovations in the cabin and, of course, a high-performance power plant.
By the way, the Yaris GRMN model has the best weight-to-power ratio in the class, which equals 5.35 kg / 1 hp.
Exterior appearance of Toyota Yaris GRMN
The "charged" Yaris GRMN has a bright, modern and aggressive appearance.
"Muzzle" of the car demonstrates the corporate "X-shaped" design with complex head optics, slightly corrected front bumper, a huge false radiator grille and original beaten foglights.
Besides, new items on the hood There are black and red decorative elements that, together with the GRMN badges on the fenders and stern, original rims, a rear spoiler and a diffuser built into the rear bumper, make it possible to instantly identify the "racing" version of the Yaris GRMN.
Otherwise, we have the same stylish and attractive urban hatchback, sporting heavily littered A-pillars, inflated wheel arches and massive side lights with LED filling.

It is noteworthy that buyers of the GRMN version will have to be content with exclusively a three-door body, while a five-door version is also available for the civilian version.
In addition, this version is offered in a non-alternative body paint, echoing that of the Toyota Gazoo Racing racing team and with exclusive 17-inch wheels.
Interior design Yaris GRMN
Salon of the special charged version of Toyota Yaris GRMN, with the exception of a few elements, completely repeats that in the usual modification of the model. So, the car received a sports three-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the model "GT86", an original knob of the gear selector, metal pedals and sports seats with well-developed lateral support.
The dashboard of the car is represented by a pair of analog dials and a 4.2-inch LCD monitor of the on-board computer, which, when turned on, greets the driver with the "GR" logo.
In the central part of the dashboard there is a 7 "TV set of the multimedia information center, a scattering of functional mechanical switches, as well as an intuitive control unit for the climate system, supplemented by a small display.
As previously mentioned, front riders offers comfortable sports seats with integrated headrests, GR logos, well-developed lateral support and a sufficient number of adjustments.
There is a transmission tunnel between the seats, where the manufacturer has placed the gearshift knob, a section with cup holders and a parking brake "poker".
Behind the front seats there is a second row of seats, where two not very tall passengers can sit without much difficulty.
Not without a luggage compartment, which in the standard cabin layout is equal to 286 liters. However, thanks to the folding second row of seats, the boot volume can be increased to 768 liters. In the underground cargo compartment, the manufacturer has placed a small repair kit and a compact dock.
The build quality and materials used are at a very decent level. In addition, the salon is capable of boasting well-thought-out ergonomics, which are in no way inferior to the best German "classmates".

Unlike the standard Toyota Yaris, equipped with one and one and a half liter petrol engines, the GRMN version is offered with a high-performance 1.8-liter petrol four-cylinder. Such an engine is equipped with a supercharger drive, allowing to develop 212 hp. and a peak torque of 250 Nm, which are transmitted to the wheels of the front axle by means of an uncontested 6-speed manual transmission.
According to the passport data, it takes 6.3 seconds for the car to accelerate from 0 to 100, and the maximum speed is limited by an electronic "collar" at around 230 km / h.
Despite the noticeable increase in power, the fuel consumption of the "charged" hatchback does not look intimidating and amounts to about 7.5 l / 100 km in mixed driving mode. On the highway and in the city, the "appetite" of the car is 5.7 and 10.6 liters per "hundred", respectively.
The model is based on the proprietary platform "Toyota-B", which assumes a transverse arrangement of the power plant. The front suspension has an independent architecture and is represented by MacPherson struts, while the rear uses a semi-independent torsion bar.
Unlike the standard Toyota Yaris, in the GRMN version, the manufacturer used shorter springs, a thicker stabilizer, Sachs shock absorbers and a Torsen rear differential. In addition, the suspension has received other adjustments aimed at improving the handling and behavior of the car at high speeds.
The steering sports an electric power-assisted steering system, and the deceleration system uses four-piston disc brakes with a ventilation system on the front axle and drum mechanisms at the rear.

When creating the Toyota Yaris GRMN, the manufacturer did not stint and equipped the car an impressive set of equipment and systems responsible for the safety of passengers... Among them were:

But in the European market, in particular in Germany, you can buy a new product at a price of 30.9 thousand euros or 2.3 million rubles, which looks like a huge amount for such a tiny, albeit "heated" car. For comparison, the usual Toyota Yaris in Germany starts at 12.79 thousand euros (959 thousand rubles).
