The beginning of summer made its own adjustments to the rating of the most popular SUVs in Russia. Leisure, sea and other needs did not become the best indicator for the sale of cars of this class. As the statistics of the AEB (Association of European Businesses) show, most of the SUVs remained in minuses or with a slight plus. Mitsubishi Outlander disappeared from the rating, and Nissan Qashqai returned to a different position as a replacement. Considering the reversal of the situation and the sales statistics, the second five has been mixed and differs from the rating for the month of May.

1. Hyundai Creta is the leader of the rating

Despite different statements regarding the fall in demand or other nuances, the compact Hyundai Creta remains the leader of the rating and the most popular car in Russia among the SUV segment. The car kept afloat, although there was no particular separation. In total, 5955 copies were sold in the first month of summer, while 5768 cars were sold in the same period last year. It turns out that the sales growth was only 3%.

A total of 6 configurations are offered for the buyer's choice. The basic version starts at 957,000 rubles, and the top version will cost from 1,335,000 rubles. Compared to last month, the price tag has not changed and remains unchanged. The characteristics remained the same in the same way.

2. Compact Renault Duster 2019

Like the previous leader among SUVs, Renault Duster with an updated design managed to keep the second place. The crossover lost 11% of sales, but managed to maintain its status. In total, 3547 cars were sold in June 2019, which is 449 cars less than last year.

The buyer is offered to choose one of 5 complete sets of Renault Duster. The basic model will cost from 714,000 rubles, the top version from 1,087,990 rubles. As for the characteristics, a gasoline or diesel engine can be installed under the hood, paired with a manual or automatic transmission. The drive can also be front or full.

3. New Tiguan

The three leaders are closed by Volkswagen Tiguan, also maintaining the position of the leader. These three cars are likely to continue to be the most popular and sold in Russia. Sales growth of the new Tiguan + 23% (most of all among the top three). In June 2019, 3234 cars were sold (for the same period in 2018, 2631 cars).

Looking ahead, I would like to say that this is the second leader of the best-selling SUVs in Russia in June this year. You can choose one of 7 complete sets. Compared to last month, the price has not changed, the basic configuration is from 1,499,000 rubles, and the top version is from 2,449,000 rubles. For engines, diesel and gasoline options, for transmission, an automatic transmission in 6 or 7 steps. A manual transmission is also available.

4. Crossover Renault Kaptur

In the May ranking, the 4th position was occupied by Kia Sportage, but now it has been replaced by the new Renault Kaptur. Despite the fact that the car was in the top 5 of leaders, sales did not change much, in June 2649 crossovers of this model were sold, which is 15 less than in the previous year. It turns out that the drop in sales was -0.6%.

There are 5 configurations to choose from. Under the hood are the well-known petrol engines of 1.6 and 2.0 liters. The engine can be paired with a mechanical, automatic transmission or a variator. By the type of drive, it can also be front or full. Finally, the price, the basic configuration will cost from 944,000 rubles, the top version from 1,139,990 rubles.

5. New generation Toyota RAV4 2019

As before, the Japanese crossover of the new generation Toyota RAV4 2019 closes the top five. In the first month of summer, dealerships sold 2,620 SUVs, thereby adding 11% of sales compared to the same period in 2018 (2,366 cars). Thus, the car became the third model with a positive increase in sales, but this is much less than in May (+ 18.4%).

On the territory of Russia, the buyer is offered to choose a diesel, gasoline or hybrid version of the unit. The engine is paired with a manual transmission (basic version), the rest of the configurations have got a variator or e-CVT variator. In dealerships, you can already find a new generation of the crossover, although two months ago only by prior order. The starting price of the crossover is 1,566,000 rubles, the top version will cost from 2,298,000 rubles.

6. Crossover Kia Sportage

The second five of the rating is opened by the Korean Kia Sportage. Compared to other crossovers in the rating, this model has dropped the most in sales. The indicator was -20%, 2367 cars were sold in June, which is 589 cars less. Apparently, the reason for this is the increased competition with a large number of functions and cheaper in price. The cheapest crossover Kia Sportage will cost from 1,109,900 rubles, although last month the starts was from 1,389,900 rubles. The difference in price is due to the manufacturer's shares. The top version of the car will cost from 1,549,900 rubles. The price changes did not affect the technical characteristics in any way, you can choose a gasoline or diesel engine. Gasoline units are paired with an automatic transmission or manual transmission, but a diesel unit with only 8 tbsp. Automatic transmission. The drive can be front or full.

7. Domestic Lada 4 × 4

Lada 4 × 4 has lost its position, it is lower. In the May ranking, the SUV occupied the 6th position, now it is the 7th. In total, 2,273 cars were sold in June, which is minus 15% of sales. In June last year, it turned out to sell 2,672 copies. As in the previous case, the increased competition has led to a decrease in demand for this SUV.

Technical characteristics remained unchanged, a classic gasoline engine with a volume of 1.7 liters, plus a manual 5-speed transmission. The changes were made to the pricing policy, now the basic version will cost from 440010 rubles, although in May it started from 488900 rubles. The top model will cost from 681,210 rubles. (in May it was from 756 900 r). Despite the price decline, no positive sales result should be expected yet.

8. New in the rating of Nissan Qashqai

Nissan Qashqai can be considered new in the rating or revived. The sales indicator is minus 6% (2077 cars were sold in June), but for the model itself this is a huge plus, since earlier the SUV generally went into a good minus in sales. In the May ranking, the model was not at all.

Under the hood of the Nissan Qashqai crossover, only gasoline engines with a volume of 1.2 and 2.0 liters are available for Russia. The units are paired with a manual transmission or a continuously variable variator, the latter is much more common. The Nissan Qashqai drive also depends on the configuration, it can be front or full. As for the cost, start from RUB 1,170,000, top option from RUB 1,758,000.

9. Crossover Skoda Kodiaq

The penultimate 9th place in the ranking, but the first in the overall "race" in sales was taken by the new crossover Skoda Kodiaq. According to the available rating information, 1996 SUVs were sold in June 2019, which is 54% more than last year (1293 cars). All this is said by the fact that the production and assembly of the novelty was established at the GAZ plant, respectively, the prices became lower, which made it possible to compete with other popular cars of the SUV segment. Previously, the SUV was brought from the Czech Republic and only in top-end versions, which significantly increased the price

The price of the Skoda Kodiaq in the basic configuration starts from 1,457,000 rubles, the maximum option will cost from 2,953,000 rubles. Gasoline or diesel engines are available for engines, paired with 7 tbsp. Automatic transmission or 6 tbsp. Manual transmission (for basic options). The drive of such a crossover is most often full, although the option of only front-wheel drive is not excluded.

10. Updated Hyundai Tucson

The well-known Hyundai Tucson closes the ranking of the most popular SUVs in Russia for June 2019. The car has proven itself well during production. Losses are small, only one position from 9th to 10th, nevertheless, this allowed us to stay in the rating. The drop in sales was 15%. In total, dealerships sold 1958 cars in June (2317 cars in the same period last year).

The buyer is offered a choice of at least 6 complete sets. Specifications remain the same, a petrol or diesel unit is available. The pair is 6 tbsp. Manual transmission, 7 art. robotic transmission or 8 tbsp.Depending on the selected model, the drive can only be front or full. There are no changes in the pricing policy, the start starts at RUB 1,499,000, the top version starts at RUB 1,889,000.

As a conclusion about the rating of popular SUVs in Russia in June 2019, many received a negative sales figure. The reasons are the most unpredictable: increased competition, the appearance of new cars on the market, or the creation of a production base, as in the case of the Skoda Kodiaq. The number of cars sold per month was taken as a basis. In all likelihood, the next rating will significantly mix the positions and show new leaders.
