Citroen has been famous for its ability to add polish and exclusivity to almost all of its products for many years, and this applies not only to civilian, but also to commercial vehicles. The Berlingo model was no exception, which in 2015 received an update and appeared before the public in a new look.
The bulk of the changes affected not so much the external appearance as the interior decoration of the car, the quality of which has become at least a head higher.
The official debut of the model took place at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, and the second generation of the model, which received an update, aroused considerable interest not only from commercial structures, but also from ordinary people, for whom the Berlingo could become an ideal family car.
The car is able to offer a spacious interior, all the options necessary for comfortable movement over long distances and an impressive luggage compartment, and all this is quite adequate money.
Separately, we note that the Berlingo model since 1996 has been meeting the expectations of its customers thanks to a number of modern and, most importantly, practical solutions. Additional evidence of the popularity of the model is the official sales, which since the beginning of its release have amounted to more than 2.9 million copies.
Exterior of the updated Citroen Berlingo
In comparison with its predecessor, the updated generation of Berlingo has significantly changed, having received a more stylish and modern appearance. French designers have slightly redesigned the front of the car, equipping it with a new front bumper, as well as more expressive head optics, which are still impressive in their dimensions. In addition, LED daytime running lights have changed their location, migrating from under the head optics to the bumper.
The window frames have been subtly curved to give the car's chopped, square shapes a softer look. The car received large wheel arches and a special plastic body kit designed to protect the body from damage. The sirloin part of the Citroen Berlingo 2016 model year cannot boast of any excesses - everything is simple and practical.
In the basic equipment, the car is offered with a large, vertically lifting tailgate, which can be replaced by a double door at an additional cost. Thanks to the large opening radius, the user has convenient access to the luggage compartment.
In comparison with the previous generation of the model, the updated Berlingo has somewhat added in dimensions, which now amount to:

The interior of the renovated Berlingo
In parallel with the changes in the external appearance, the interior of the car also underwent innovations, where higher-quality finishing materials and several innovative solutions appeared in the form of a 7-inch multitouch display located in the central part of the dashboard. In general, the front console has a rather utilitarian appearance, however, you would not expect otherwise from a car of this class, where not beauty comes first, but ergonomics and practicality in everyday use - and with this, Berlingo has everything at its best.
The driver's seat has excellent ergonomics - all instruments, buttons and levers are located where you expect to see them. Moderately hard front seats provide good comfort, even when it comes to long journeys, and low and soft pedals contribute to comfortable driving. The bus landing is high, which provides good visibility. The back row seats can easily accommodate three adults, while there is enough space both in length and height.
The volume of the trunk in the stowed state is 675 liters, while it can always be increased by folding the backs of the rear row, while receiving an impressive 1350 liters, where you can transport, if necessary, not only construction equipment, but also, for example, a small refrigerator.
Separately, it is worth noting that the interior is replete with a huge number of shelves and niches for small things - in this indicator, the car is inferior only to Renault Scenic. In addition, in the passenger version of Multispace, folding travel tables are installed in the backrests of the front seats, which provide additional comfort when traveling over long distances.
In general, the interior of Berlingo does not flaunt originality, but do not forget that this is primarily a working car, where the main role is played not by the attractiveness of the interior, but by its functionality, practicality and durability.

The car is built on the basis of a front-wheel drive platform and is equipped with a torsion beam at the rear, and classic MacPherson struts at the front, which provides the car with good handling and acceptable softness. In the domestic market, the car will be represented by two gasoline power units and one diesel engine:
- The first is a 1.6-liter 110-horsepower engine, complete with a manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-100 takes 15.3 seconds, which is quite good for a car of this class, while Berlingo consumes about 8.2 l / 100 km when driving in a mixed cycle. The maximum declared speed is 160 km / h.
- The second is a 1.6-liter, but already 120-horsepower engine, which develops 177 km / h and is distinguished by more dynamic characteristics. So, acceleration from 0 to 100 takes 12 seconds, while fuel consumption varies within 7l / 100 km.
- The third is a 1.6-liter turbodiesel with 90 hp. With such an engine, the car can boast of good dynamics - acceleration to a hundred takes about 13 seconds, as well as excellent economy - about 5-5.5 l / 100 km. An excellent option not only for commercial, but also for everyday use. An exclusively diesel version, in addition to mechanics, can offer the buyer a variator.
Despite the rather modest technical characteristics, the car copes well with its main task - transportation of goods and passengers from point "A" to point "B", while consuming a small amount of fuel and providing a sufficient level of comfort.
Safety
French engineers have worked hard to increase the level of passive and active safety of the car. According to crash tests according to the EuroNCup standard, the new generation Berlingo has shown the benchmark result in its class. Due to the reinforced body and the variety of safety systems, the car managed to get 4 stars.
The latter are represented by an anti-lock and braking force system, an emergency braking assistant, as well as disc brakes. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a dynamic stabilization system, which ensures optimal vehicle behavior in a wide variety of road conditions.
In the basic equipment, the car is equipped with two front airbags, and for an additional fee, the number of airbags can be increased to six: two front, two side, two curtains located in the racks between the front and rear seats.
To ensure the safety of children in the cabin of the updated Berlingo, there are Isofix mounts, there are electric locks for the rear row doors, as well as a special spherical salon mirror that allows you to keep an eye on children.
Optionally, the car can be equipped with cruise control, a downhill start assist system, and an automatic obstacle recognition system when driving at a speed not exceeding 30 km / h.
Options and prices of the new Citroen Berlingo
The price for the commercial version of Citroen Berlingo starts at 12.55 thousand dollars or 816 thousand rubles. For this money, the buyer receives:
- 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 110 hp;
- ABS, REF and AFU systems;

- Belts with pretensioners;
- Central locking with the option of automatic door locking when driving over 10 km / h;
